Money defalcation suit: Aslam Chy’s bail petition rejected by Ctg court

A court in Chittagong rejected the bail petition of BNP leader Aslam Chowdhury on Wednesday last as he was shown arrest following the prayer of the anti corruption commissioner, Chittagong for allegedly involved with the misappropriation of Tk.325 crores of a private bank of the country. Chittagong Metropolitan Magistrate Nazmul Hasan chowdury pronounced this order of arrest and rejected the bail petition, sources said.
PP of Anti-corruption court Advocate Sanowar Ahmed Lovelu told the media that Aslam chowdhury borrowed loan of tk.325 crores from ABBank ltd, agrabad branch in the name of Rising Steels Ltd and hence ACC filed this case against 6 accused including BNP leader Aslam chowdhury on July 16 last by Deputy Asstt. Director Manik Lal Das. Other accuses in the case are – Managing Director of Rising Steels Ltd Amjad Hossain Chowdhury, Director Jasimuddin chowdhury, wife of Aslam chy and Chairman of Rising steel Jamila Naznin, General Manager of Bangladesh Bank, Chittagong Badrul Hoque Khan and former Md of AB Bank M.Fazlur Rahman.
 Court sources said Tk.325 crore was borrowed from the bank during the period of 2011 and 2013 through different L/Cs from importing scrap vessels but yet to be paid the loan amount.
