A police officer has been arrested as a planner of killing Yunus Hawlader Khan, a businessman, at Keraniganj in Dhaka district in June.
He had been identified as Sub-Inspector Nur Alam,and was arrested on Saturday night on the charge of killing the businessman. Sources said, he was connected to the murder plot of the businessman from Shyampur. Trader Yunus was killed in South Keraniganj after being assured that his name would be erased from the case.
Shah Jamal, Officer-in-Charge of South Keraniganj Police Station, confirmed the media about the arrest. He said that the arrest was made on the basis of an accused’s confession.
Yunus was lured to go to Keraniganj with guarantee that his name would be dropped from the case. He was then murdered there.There was also a transaction of Tk three lakh.
Investigation Officer of Keraniganj Police Station, Golam Mostafa, told the media that the investigation had proved that Nur Alam was involved in killing businessman Yunus.
But the victim’s son, Atiquzzaman, wife Marufa Begum, said that they are confused. However, Dhaka Superintendent of Police Shah Mizan Shafiur Rahman told media that nobody regardless of identity involved with the murder would be spared. Whoever is the culprit, he must be prosecuted. However, SI Nur Alam was produced in a Dhaka court.
