The father of the victim came to the police station to inquire about the case of attempted rape of a child girl in Kodalia village of Shibalaya Upazila in Manikganj and was severely beaten by an ASI of the police. Accused ASI Arif Hossain has been withdrawn after complaining to higher authorities.
Manikganj Superintendent of Police Mohammad Ghulam Azad Khan PPM visited the spot Sunday. OC of Shivalaya police station Shahin said that following the incident, ASI Arif Hossain has been ordered to close the police line.
It is known that Sujan Molla, the son of Halim Molla, a resident of this village, lives in Dhaka. Her 5-year-old daughter lives with her grandmother in the village house.
On August 14, neighbor Rajjab Khan was caught red-handed while trying to rape a baby girl but managed to escape. Sujan came to the police station on the evening of August 20 with her baby daughter and mother, but there was no response. ASI Arif took the victim’s father to a police station room and thrashed him without investigating the allegations of attempted rape. When Sujan’s mother came forward to rescue her son, she also threatened him and asked him to run away from the police station.
The seriously injured Sujan was treated at Upazila Health Complex. Sujan went to Manikganj police super office to report this incident. Shivalaya Circle ASP Noorjahan Labani immediately withdrew ASI Arif on the orders of higher authorities.
