BCB’s Disciplinary Panel reduced Mohammad Ashraful’s punishment to five years from eight years, said a press release of BCB issued on Monday.
Ashraful appealed to the Disciplinary Panel of BCB headed by Justice Md Abdur Rashid.
Mohammad Ashraful was banned for eight years from all kinds of cricket competitions as he was found guilty of spot-fixing in the second Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) held in 2012.
The appeal of Mohammad Ashraful against the sanction dated 02 July 2013 of the Anti-Corruption Tribunal with effect from 07 July 2013 under the Anti- Corruption Code for Participants 2013 is partially upheld.
The sanction issued on 07 July 2013 is set aside. A period of ineligibility for five years commencing from 13 August 2013 is imposed upon the appellant with the credit that is available to him under article 6.4 of the Code and last two years is suspended subject to his participation in the anti-corruption education and training programme to be organized by BCB and/or ICC and would be entitled to return to cricket on or about 13 August 2016 upon production of a certificate of good conduct from ICC.
