Sheikh Arif Bulbon :
Noted freedom-fighter and legendary actor Raisul Islam Asad is getting Ekushey Padak this year. Names of the nominated persons
were announced on Thursday. After the
independence of Bangladesh, Asad selected acting as his profession and also established himself as a legendary actor by virtue of his dedication to acting. For this reason, he is going to receive the Ekushey Padak. Earlier, he got the National Film Award for several times.
While sharing his feelings in this regard Asad said, “It is no doubt I am feeling really well because it is the highest honour of the state. This government is the favour of Liberation War. It is really a great achievement of my acting career. My family and I are really glad in this regard. But I am confused because I may not receive the award from the Prime Minister directly because during that time I have to stay in Mumbai for taking part in shooting of a movie on Bangabandhu’s biopic. However, to get the Ekushey Padak is a memorable moment for me. Everybody pray for me and for my family as we can remain well.” Asad informed that he will play the role of Moulana Bhashani in Shyam Benegal directed movie on Bangabandhu’s biopic. Few days ago, he went to Mumbai for the shooting of this movie. He will again go to Mumbai on February 14. Asad’s wife Tahira Dil Afroze and only daughter Dr Rubaina Zaman are living in USA now.
