Artistes term Rohingya persecution crime against humanity

Different cultural platforms on Monday formed a human chain in front of the Jatiya Press Club protesting Rohingya persecution in Myanmar.
Leaders and activists of 18 platforms of artistes participated in the human chain protesting military offensive against Rohingya people, who were forced to cross into Bangladesh.
Convenor of Cholochitra Paribar and eminent Actor Faruq, noted film producer Amzad Hossain, President of Film Directors Association Mushfiqur Rahman Gulzar, Secretary General Badiul Alam Khokon, President of Film Industry Association Misha Saudagar, General Secretary actor Jayed Khan, Film Director Wahiduzzaman, actors Riaz and Ferdous and actresses Sujata, Anjana and Nutun, among others, joined the human chain.
The artistes and cultural personalities described the ongoing violence on Rohingyas as violation of human rights and crime against humanity. They called on the government of Myanmar to stop military attack on Rohingya.
Actor Faruq criticized the role of de facto head of Myanmar government Aung San Suu Kyi in atrocities of Rohingya, saying she does not deserve the Nobel Peace Prize.
Other leaders said the global community lauded the role of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina as Bangladesh has given shelter to a large number of Rohingya people.
