An ‘Art Camp’ on the life of small ethnic groups began at the National Art Gallery at Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy (BSA) in the city.
BSA organised the art camp on Thursday aiming to uphold the culture, history and activities of small ethnic groups of the country.
BSA Director General Liaquat Ali Lucky inaugurated the festival as the chief guest.
BSA Fine Arts Division Director and Camp Coordinator Ashraful Alam Poplu also attended the festival with BSA Secretary Jahangir Hossain Chowdhury in the chair.
Speaking at the function, the chief guest said, “There are about 50 small ethnic groups in Bangladesh… Most of them have their own language and culture. But their language and cultural aspects are not being preserved properly. BSA has taken initiatives to preserve their culture and heritage.” A total of 50 artists from 50 small ethnic groups took part in the camp to sketch 150 paintings on the cultural and heritage of ethnic people.
