Arrested acting JMB chief remanded

A Dhaka court yesterday placed Rezaul Haque alias Reza alias Tanvir Mahmud alias Shihab Ahnaf, the acting Amir of the banned outfit Jamaat-ul-Mujahideen Bangladesh, on a seven-day remand.
Magistrate Moinul Islam of the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) Court of Dhaka passed the order on Sunday.
The Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) unit of DMP arrested him conducting a drive in Badda area of the city on Saturday noon.
It has been learnt that Rezaul Haque was involved with the series bomb explosion of 2005. He was arrested in connection with the incident and was behind the bar for a long time. Later, in 2017, he secured bail from the court and got himself engaged in his organizational activities. CTTC Additional Police Super Md Ramat Ullah Chowdhury told the media that besides, performing the duties of Acting Ameer of JMB, he was in charge of publicity and finance of the organisation. Actually, he has been leading the banned organisation in absence of JMB’s top leader Salauddin Salehin, who has been on the run outside the country.
Primarily, questioning Rezaul Haque, CTTC told the media people that he was inviting people and recruiting members for the organisation through visits to different places of the country.
