Bangladesh Army distributed relief goods among the needy, jobless, elderly and distressed people of river-erosion prone and remote Alambiditor union in Gangachara upazila of the district on Thursday.
The 9 Engineer Battalion of 66 Infantry Division of Bangladesh Army distributed the relief goods, mainly food items, saved by the battalion from its own foods, among thirty needy people affected by the Covid-19 pandemic to stand beside.
Alongside operating patrolling to strictly enforce the lockdown, 9 Engineer Battalion distributed foodstuffs among the needy people at a function arranged at Alambiditor union parishad premises strictly abiding by the health directives and physical distancing.
Each of the beneficiary people received five kgs of rice, two kgs of floor, one kg of sugar, one litre of edible oil and one packet of vermicelli, face masks and seeds of various vegetables as gifts.
As per direction of the Army Headquarters, different units of 66 Infantry Division are operating regular patrolling in Rangpur area in the wake of the tough situation of Covid-19 to ensure the strict lockdown in aid to the civil administration.
