Army provides foodstuffs to poor people

Bangladesh Army distributed foodstuffs door to door and in a function among 150 needy, jobless, transgender and disabled people of five wards in Rangpur city.
As per direction of the Army Headquarters, 9 Engineer Battalion of 66 Infantry Division of Bangladesh Army recently distributed food items saved by the battalion from its own foods, among the needy people affected by the Covid-19 pandemic to stand beside them.
Alongside operating patrolling to enforce the lockdown in Rangpur City Corporation areas, Sadar and Gangachara upazilas in aid to the civil administration, the battalion continues distributing foodstuffs strictly abiding by the health directives.
Besides, the battalion is distributing masks and health safety materials and inspiring common people in wearing masks and staying at homes during the lockdown in the wake of the Covid-19 pandemic situation.
Each of the beneficiary people received three kgs of rice, two kgs of flour, one kg of sugar, one litre of edible oil and one packet of vermicelli as gifts.
The foodstuffs recipient people included 25 disabled persons, 40 transgender people and 85 day-labourers, needy, helpless people of five wards of Rangpur city.
Before distributing the relief goods, Commanding Officer of 9 Engineer Battalion Lieutenant Colonel Mohammad Tariqul Alam briefly discussed the maximum necessity of maintaining the Covid-19 protocol to remain safe.
He discussed the nature and severity of Covid-19 and put importance on maintaining physical distance, abiding by the health directives and hygiene rules, wearing masks and remaining at homes to prevent community spread of the deadly virus.
