Coronation ceremony of the EME Corp Colonel Commandant Debut Ceremony, Annual captain conference and 5th core reunion held on Wednesday (March 28th) for two days at Electrical and Mechanical Engineers Center and School Saidpur Cantonment. In the parade held on the occasion of the reunion ceremony, the President and Armed Force Chief Commander Abdul Hamid were present as the Chief Guest.
In the Saidpur Cantonment, at 12 noon, the Chief Guest visited the parade and took salute at the parade ground. At the beginning of the ceremony, the President recalled the name of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the greatest Bengalee of all time, and said that the people of the EME Corps who have sacrificed their lives in the long 9 months of liberation war, who are martyred, will be remembered forever.
He said that after independence, the father of the nation started the formation of Bangladesh army by limited resources in the war-torn country and his leadership was the start of the present army. The forces of this army stood beside the people by tackling natural disasters such as floods, tidal waves and cyclone. Their achievement in UN peacekeeping missions has been praised at home and abroad.
The President said that the process of implementing Goal-2030 of Bangladesh is in progress. If this is implemented, Bangladesh Army will be transformed into a complete, modern, effective and time-bound force.
EME Core is an important technical core of Bangladesh Army. In this era of science and technology the latest weapons and equipments are being used now in the army. He stressed the importance of the hard work, perseverance and advanced training of the members of the EME Corps.
The President mentioned that there is no alternative to training in the military life. Therefore, he stressed the importance of training, with the recruitment of male recruits as well as training of women recruits since 2014. They will continue their progress, he said.
He said, due to the timely action of the present government, the development of the EME Co’s organizational and infrastructures has led to widespread development. EME Corps members will go ahead with all their efforts and full faith in leadership. He suggested that the army, created by Father of the Nation, Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, should be developed into a trained, orderly and modern army.
Earlier, when the President reached the Parade Ground, parade held with the leadership of parade commander Lieutenant Colonel Sakhawat Hossain. Chief of Army General Abu Belal Mohammad Shafiul Haque, Chief of Naval Staff, Commandant Major General. Masud Rezwan, Commander EMEC & Brigadier General Md. Mahbub Anwar, GOC of 66 Infantry Division and Rangpur Area Commander Brigadier General Masud Razzak, Nilphamari Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Khaled Rahim, Superintendent of Police Ashraf Hossain and senior civil and civil officials were also present.
