Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) in an overnight drive unearthed an arms making factory in Kolmarchhari area of Maheshkhali upazila on Saturday night.
The elite force members also detained two arms manufacturers-Abdul
Hakim and Mohamamd Shahidullah-along with firearms, bullets and firearms-making equipment.
RAB conducted the raid after receiving a tip that there were several weapons-making factories in the Maheshkhali hill area, RAB-7 Commander Major Mehedi Hasan said.
At one stage, they spotted the factory in a remote hilly area in Kalarmarchhara around 12 am, according to an SMS sent by the Rab headquarters.
“Two men were detained while trying to free after sensing the Rab team’s presence. Some others managed to flee during the raid.”
