Argument in Avijit murder case Feb 3

The Anti-Terrorism Special Tribunal of Dhaka yesterday fixed February 3 for placing arguments in the blogger Avijit Roy murder case.
While speaking in self-defence, four accused pleaded not guilty under Section-342 of the Code of Criminal Procedure. Earlier, Judge Md Mojibur Rahman of the tribunal read out the charges brought against the accused. The court completed recording the depositions of witnesses in the case on January 20. Of the 34 prosecution witnesses, 28 testified in the case.
Testifying of witnesses in the case began on October 28, 2019 with late Professor Ajoy Roy, who was the father of slain Avijit Roy.  
On August 1, charge was framed against six accused. The accused persons are sacked Major Syed Ziaul Haq Zia, Akram Hossain alias Hasib alias Adnan alias Abdullah, Abu Siddique Sohel, Mozammel Hussain alias Saimon, Arafat Rahman, and Shafiur Rahman Farabi. Of them, Zia and Farabi are on the run.
On February 26, 2015, US-based Bangladeshi blogger Avijit Roy was murdered near the Teacher Student Centre (TSC) of Dhaka University by a gang of assailants in an attack that left Avijit’s wife Rafida Ahmed Bonya wounded but she survived. The victim was immediately taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital, and he died there at about 10 pm.
Avijit’s father Dr Ajoy Roy, who died later, filed the murder case against unidentified assailants with Shahbagh Police Station of the city on the following day.
