17th APICTA awards Dhaka-2017 will begin today in the capital aiming the country’s ICT and its related business facilities.
APICTA – Asia Pacific ICT Alliance, is an alliance of national ICT organisations representing their respective economy to build and enhance a mutually cooperative network to promote ICT, enhance technology innovations, capability and adoption, and encourage the development of indigenous ICT solutions for the global market.
As a member of the alliance, Bangladesh Association of Software and Information Services (BASIS) is organizing the ceremony for first time in Bangladesh, which is commonly known Oscars of ICT, APICTA Awards 2017.
Meanwhile, around 400 ICT experts and delegation from 16 countries have arrived in Dhaka. Ministry of Information and Communication, Directorate of ICT and Bangladesh Association of Software and Information Service (BASIS) are jointly organising the program.
On December 10, 17th APICA award Dhaka-2017′ will be handed to the winners in a function at Bangabandhu International Conference Centre (BICC).
Progress of ICT sector and potentiality of investment in this sector in Bangladesh will be displayed.
Convener of the program arrangement committee and Senior Vice-President of BASIS Rasel T Ahmed told media, Bangladesh gets the opportunity to hold the program with 400 foreign guests considering its potentiality in ICT sector.
Apart from Bangladesh, other APICTA members are- Australia, Brunei Darussalam, China, Taipei, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Japan, Macao, Malaysia, Myanmar, Pakistan, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Vietnam and Nepal.
APICTA Chairperson Dileepa de Silva, Vice Chairman Stan Singh, APICTA Award Chief Judge Abdullah H Kafi, BASIS President Mustafa Jabbar and convener Russell T Ahmed were passing busy time to arrange the program fruitfully.
BASIS got the membership of ICT alliance in 2015. Bangladesh won for the first time Asia Pacific ICT Alliance (APICTA) Award-2016 in sustainability and environment category for the “Soil Safe” digital soil and fertilizer testing mini lab initiatives.
