Anup contesting in Pathergatha Ward as Councilor

The city ward No.34 -‘ Pathergatha ‘is a one of the enlightened areas of the port city . This ward is located in the north adjoining side of Karnaphuli river and its adjoining areas are most important business hub namely Chaktai ,Asadgonj and Khatungonj.
The Chittagong City Corporation election is scheduled to be held on April 28 next. Warm election campaign is being conducted by the aspirant councilors in this ward . Mentionable that a straw incident between the supporters of two groups erupted on Monday last morning but later resolved .
 There are four general councilor candidates in the election race of the ward. These councilor aspirants are incumbent councilor Md.Ismail alias Bali, Jalaluddin Iqbal, Ashfaque Ahmed and Anup Biswas.
 Among them, 2 candidates claim themselves as ruling party backed nominees and one Anup claimed himself as a social & cultural activist rather party nominee but divisions of opinions between the central and the local Awami League leaders witnessed. Mentionable that Anup biswas as one former active Chatra league activist. Sources said Jalaluddin, Ashfaque and Anup Biswas belong to ruling party and central committee selected Jalaluddin as their party backed nominee but city AL President declared Ashfaque Ahmed as their city unit nominated nominee . On the other hand Anup Biswas himself claiming as a social personality.
There are overwhelming support of Anup Biswas irrespective of caste and creed. Anup Biswas is renowned business and social personality of the port city . He is the successor of his family business of import and exports , cold storage industry and owner of a number of building s in Pathergatha and Feringhe Bazaar area . Anup Biswas is the son of Late Sachindra Lal Biswas , a respectable Hindu family of Gachchi, Raozan. They migrated in Pathergatha since emergence of Bangladesh. While asked about terrorism activities in his ward, he told the New Nation that he will try to eliminate the anti-social activities from Pathergatha area forever if elected councilor .
 He also expressed that a Technical Training school will be established in his ward to impart training to the unemployed youths and females to make them self-reliant, if elected councilor. Mentionable that AL- backed nominee Jalaluddin was elected councilor for the last 3 consecutive terms but defeated in 2010 polls.
And Ashfaque , a city AL backed aspirant contested in last two consecutive terms but failed .
 Anup Biswas is contesting for the first time with Pumkin Symbol (Kumra Marka).
