Anti-tank rockets found in Habiganj’s Satchhari forest

Staff Reporter : At least 13 anti-tank rocket launcher charges have been recovered from the Satchhari National Forest in Habiganj’s on Saturday noon.

Bangladesh Army and elite police unit Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) recovered those weapons which were found buried under the ground during a joint raid.

“We had received information about the rocket launcher cache on Thursday. With help of the army’s 24th Infantry Division, we identified the exact location on Saturday. The rocket launchers were brought in a few months ago,” said Lt Col Md Mahbubul Alam, the chief of Chattogram-based RAB-7 unit.
RAB had said the weapons may have belonged to an Indian separatist group.

No arrests have been made yet he said.

The Satchhari National Forest is borders the India’s Tripura state. RAB had previously recovered various weapons including mortar shells, rocket launchers, machine guns and numerous explosives from the forest in 2014 and 2018.
