Director General of Ansar and VDP Major General Kazi Sharif Kaikobad has laid emphasis on creating awareness among the people for maintaining social distance to tackle the spread of deadly coronavirus.
He said, the Battalion Ansars and members of Ansar and VDP are now working jointly with the army, police and other forces as a part of extended cooperation to upazila and district administrations to fight against coronavirus in different parts of the country.
According to a press release, the Ansar members are inspiring general people to stay at home for their own safety and maintaining social distance among the people who are compelled to come out of their homes for any kind of emergency.
Meanwhile, the 100- bed quarantine and isolation centre established at Gaibandha’s Ansar-VDP Training Centre has been handed over to district administration and district sadar hospital under the directives and supervision of DG Ansar and VDP Major General Kazi Sharif Kaikobad.
Apart from it, the Ansar and VDP has also taken massive relief programmes to distribute necessary commodities to the destitute people in the wake of coronavirus pandemic. Not only that, emergency control rooms have been established at its all Ranges and Headquarters to ensure quick response against the spread of virus.
The Ansar members are also performing duty while conducting mobile courts under the authority of district magistrates. Besides, they are helping local administrations to stop unnecessary movement of general people, shut down shops and other establishments by 7pm. They are also engaged in patrolling different corners of the country.
Officials said the force members are working to ensure different healthcare facilities relating to coronavirus pandemic, including installation of formal quarantine and isolation centres, keeping round-the-clock touch with local administration and district sadar hospitals.
To create awareness among the common people, adequate water, hand sanitizers, soaps, basins and other essentials have been made available in front of its all districts, upazila and unit offices, the press release added.
