Another N’ganj fire victim dies

Another burn victim, Mahfuzul Islam, 11, dies. He was seriously injured in a fire and gas explosion caused by a leak in a cylinder at a flat in West Masdai area of Narayanganj city.
He died at the Sheikh Hasina National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery in Dhaka on Thursday.
Earlier, Mahfuzul’s brother-in-law Mishal, 28, died on Wednesday. Now
two of a family of six so far died in fire incident. Four others including children are in critical condition, said the burn institute Residential Medical Officer Dr Partha Shanker Paul.
Mahfuzul received 85 percent burn injuries and he breathed his last around 1pm on Thursday.
Earlier, the fire broke out on the 6th floor of a six-storey building around 12:30 am at Masdair Patanger mor area in Fatullah, said Station Officer of Mondolpara Fire Service Belal Hossain.
The injured were Mishal, 28, a garment worker, his wife Mita,23, their one and a half year old child Minhaj and Mishal’s two brothers-in-law- Mahfuz and Sajib.
Belal Hossain said that neighbors extinguished the blaze before they reached the spot. Fire Service officials said that the accident took place from gas line leakages.
Dr Partha said that four of the injured are in critical condition as they sustained burns at major parts of their bodies. The one and a half year old son Minhaj had 45 percent burns while Sabbir 45 percent, Mita 15 and Afsana 10 percent burn.
