Another young girl has allegedly been raped at ‘Sweet Dream Hotel’ in capital Banani after alluring her into marriage.
Abdul Matin, an inspector (investigation) of Banani Police Station, said the victim filed a case against Kushan Omar Sufi, brother of singer Anusheh Anadil, with the police station on December 13.
According to the first information report (FIR), “The victim met Kusan one and half years ago at a function and both have been in affairs since then. She used to meet Kusan frequently for outing at different places in the capital. Even she was introduced to Kushan family saying that he is going to marry her soon.
Kusan went abroad in June committing her that he will marry her by September. As he failed to keep his promise, she went to Kusan’s home on November 19 to discuss about their marriage. But she could not enter Kusan’s residence as his sister Anuseh Anadil prevented her.
Kusan later invited her outside his residence to discuss about their affairs and marriage. They took dinner at a Banani hotel and then took board in room no 805 of the ‘Sweet Dream Hotel’ at Kamal Ataturk Avenue around 12.20am on November 20. Later, Kushan raped her alluring her into marriage.
The girl informed Banani police in the morning. Police took Kushan under custody following her complaint. On information, guardians of two families came to the police station and came up with a compromise that Kushan will marry the girl on the following day.
“As the issue settled by the two families, it refrained me to filing a formal case in this regard”, said the girl in her FIR.
On November 21, I went to Kushan’s house to marry him. But his sister, brother-in-law and relatives stopped her. They forcibly got her out and beat her with the threat that she will face dire consequences if she tries to come to their sight again.
“We’re investigating the incident. The victim was sent to Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) for health check-up. We will take action against the accused after getting medical report from the hospital,” said Abdul Matin.
