Another BCL man held over SUST violence

One more Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) activist has been held in connection with the organisation’s infighting at Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (SUST) that left one dead.
Police picked up Ramim Ibn Jahan, a third year student of Computer Science and Engineering Department and son of Shahjahan of Dhunkipara village in Katiadi upazila of Kishoreganj from Surma Residential Area in Akhalia of the city early Friday.
Later, he was shown arrested in a case filed for vandalism during the clash, said officer-in-charge of
Jalalabad Police Station Akhter Hossain. With this, a total of 39 people have so far been arrested in connection with the killing of the BCL men in the clash.
On November 20, BCL man Sumon Das, 22, was killed and 20 others were injured in a factional clash of the ruling party’s student wing over establishing supremacy on the SUST campus.
Later, the authorities announced the closure of the university for an indefinite period. Three cases were filed with Jalalabad Police Station.
