Post-polls violence: Another AL leader dies at DMCH

Another Awami League leader, who suffered injuries during a clash over the recently held Peroli UP election in Kalia upazila on Thursday morning, died at Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) on Saturday.
Badrul Islam, vice-president of ward no-8 of Peroli union unit of Awami League, succumbed to his
injuries while undergoing treatment at the emergency unit of the DMCH, around 6am on Saturday, said officer-in-charge of Kalia Police Station Sheikh Goni Miah quoting victim’s nephew Aminul Islam.
Earlier, on Thursday, Sheikh Mofazzal Hossain, 50, vice-president of upazila unit of Awami League, was stabbed to death in a clash over the recently held Peroli UP election in the upazila.
The supporters of newly elected UP chairman Jarjid Mollah (a rebel candidate of AL) and the supporters of defeated AL-backed candidate clashed in Mohsin intersection area of the union over the polls that left 10 people, including Mofazzal, Saddam and Shamim and Badrul, injured.
The injured were rushed to Khulna Medical College Hospital (KMCH) where Mofazzal succumbed to his injuries. Badrul was taken to the DMCH from the KMCH as his condition deteriorated.
