Rana Plaza tragedy: Another accused sent to jail after surrender

Another accused in the case filed in connection with collapse of Rana Plaza was on Wednesday sent to the jail after he surrendered to the court in the case.
Accused Abdul Hamid surrendered to the court seeking bail in the case while Senior Judicial
Magistrate Md Al-Amin of the Chief Judicial Magistrate Court of Dhaka sent him to the jail rejecting his bail pleas.
Besides, the same court on Wednesday fixed March 3 for submission of the compliance report about the arrest of the fugitives in the case. As scheduled, the police failed to submit the compliance report on the day. Fifteen accused of the case including four government officers are still on the run.
Two cases were filed in connection with the collapse of the building on April 24, 2013. The charge sheet of the murder case contains 41 accused, while 17 people have been included in the charge sheet of the case filed under the Building Construction Act.
A total of 1,117 dead bodies were recovered from the spot of Savar after the incident. Later, 19 injured garment workers died during their medical treatment in different hospitals. Seriously injured 78 victims ultimately have become disabled. The bodies of 844 workers were handed over to their relatives of the victims. Besides the dead, 1170 were injured in the deadly incident.
