Keraniganj killing: Another accused confesses guilt

Another accused in Keraniganj four-murder case confessed his guilt to a Dhaka court on Wednesday. Senior Judicial Magistrate Syed Siraj Zinna of Dhaka’s Chief Judicial Magistrate Court recorded the confessional statement of prime accused Sumon alias CNG Sumon, 32, under Section 164 of the Code of Criminal Procedure. Later, he was sent to the jail.
Earlier, Detective Branch (DB) Police arrested Nasir Sheikh on Tuesday from Ullahpara in Sirajganj district. He was placed on a five-day remand in the case
 when he was produced in the court on the day. He is a son of Abdullah Sheikh from Shahjadpur upazila in Sirajganh district.
A team of DB Police led by an Additional Police Super of Dhaka conducted a raid in Mohanganj area of the upazila and arrested Nasir at around 11:00am on Tuesday and brought to Dhaka and others details about him are yet to be known.
A total of eight people, including two prime suspects of the four-murder case, were arrested from Munshiganj and Gazipur districts in connection with the murder. Earlier, accused Zakaria alias Jony also made confession to a Dhaka court admitting his involvement in the incident and a court sent him to jail.
Other accused in the case are Abdul Majid alias Nayem, 24, Rafique Mia, 35, Mukta Akter, 30, Shahida Akter, 36, and Rani Akter, 19.
On September 24, four members of a family were killed in their flat at Kolakandi in the capital’s South Keraniganj.
