The annual sports, cultural and prize distribution ceremony of Abdul Ghani High School and Dori Kandi Government Primary School, located in Jajira Upazila of Shariatpur district, ended at duo’s joint playground in a befitting manner on Saturday.
The two days programme began on March 7 amidst thunderous claps. The first part of the programme was sports. The disciplines were sprint competition, cockfight, ball-throwing, run round chair, high jump, long jump, rope-jump for girls, marble-spoon race, biscuit race, wool entering into needle eye, pillow throwing and dress as you wish. Recitation from the Holy Quran, Islami song (gajal, hamd and nath), patriotic song, Rabindrah sangeet, Nazrul geeti, Lalon geeti, bhatialli, bhawaiya, jari, shari, kabi, pop, extempore, poetry recitation, debate, general knowledge and dance were the items of the cultural programme.
At the end of the competition, several invited guests spoke on the occasion, advising the students to build themselves as both sportsmen and career students.
School Managing Committee President Mohammad Motiur Rahman Dori presided over the prize distribution ceremony, addressed by Jajira Upazila Secondary School Education Officer Mohammad Mozammel Haque, Upazila Primary School Officer Mohammad Nurul Amin Howlader, Head Master of Abdul Ghani High School Motaleb Hossain, Supreme Court Lawyer Mizanur Rahman Dori, Chairman of Palerchar Union Parished Altab Hossain Munshi, President of Jajira Upazila Primary School Teachers’ Association Mohammad Quamruzzaman Halim, President of Managing Committee of Dori Kandi Government Primary School Abul Kashem Dori and its Headmistress Nasima Akhter, managing committees’ members, teachers and staffs of the two institutions, educationists, guardians, sports audiences, and former and present students of the two schools.
