Businessman Aniruddha Kumar Roy, who returned his Gulshan home in the small hours of Thursday after long 81 days of missing, claimed that he was a victim of vengeance of his business rivals.
In a letter signed by Aniruddha on the pad of RMM Group as the managing director, he alleged that his business partner Mohiuddin Ahmed Mahin, President of Bangladesh Finished Leather, Leather Goods and Footwear Exporters Association, was trying to grab his money and assets. The letter which was sent to the media said: “I am Aniruddha Roy, the Managing Director of RMM Group, and I have become a victim of vengeance of my business rivals. My business partner Mohiuddin Ahmed Mahin had made several attempts at taking control of three of my companies.”
In the letter he, however, did not say anything about his whereabouts for the last 81 days. Aniruddha, an honorary consul of Belarus, was forcibly took away by a group of unknown persons in a microbus on August 27 as soon as he came out of a bank at Gulshan.
He claimed that his business partner Mahin was trying to grab the companies-RMM Leather Industries Ltd, RMM Knit Clothing Ltd and RMM Sweater Ltd — whose have a total value of around Tk150 crore.
“I was abducted on August 27 when I was leaving the Union Bank building in Gulshan-1 after attending a meeting. I am concerned that my abduction was carried out by a quarter with malicious intents, arising from business rivalry,” the letter said.
“During my disappearance, a certain quarter made several attempts to harm my business while the abductors pressured me to give away my assets. But I did not give it to the pressure. And by the grace of the almighty, I returned home on November 17.” the letter continued.
As per his claim, the BFLLFEA President made illegal attempts to block the issuance of shipment certificate to LIB- one of Aniruddha’s companies.
Besides, a payment of Tk5 crore was deposited to a personal account, instead of the company account, which is clear violation of company regulations.
Not only that, the factory workers were threatened and attempts were made to create unrest in factories owned by Aniruddha.
In another attempt, important documents were removed from Aniruddha’s office without his permission and during his absence.
A Canadian citizen Aniruddha often flies travels to Toronto. He has sought justice from the Prime Minister and urged her to ensure his safety at home and work.
The New Nation made several attempts to get Mahin over telephone last night. But he was unreachable.
