Angioplasty done on 100- yr old female patient

The Fortis Escorts Heart Institute, Khulna which started its services from 18th December 2014 for the people of southern region has made another history by performing a primary angioplasty procedure on a 100 years old female, says a press release.
 The patient came in hospital with acute heart attack , accompanied by her 76 years old elder daughter. Primary angioplasty is a procedure to open a blocked artery and placing a stent (ring) into it to re establish blood circulation in the blocked artery.
In medical terms, the door to balloon time achieved was less than 90 minutes. Procedure was performed by senior cardiologist of Bangladesh Dr Husnayen Nanna along with Dr Abdullah Manjur, Dr Mahbubul Haque and having his team with Mrs Sultana, Miss Smrity, Mr Faruk Rana.
Upto best of the available knowledge , this patient is the oldest female in Bangladesh and probably in South Asia to undergo primary angioplasty.
Till now hospital has performed many cathlab procedures including elective and primary angioplasties, shared by Dr Shariar Farque , the Medical Superintendent of Institute.
