Industries Minister Amir Hossain Amu on Wednesday called for expanding Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) to create employment opportunities to meet the growing demand of the country’s workforce.
“We can create employment opportunities through expansion of manufacturing and light engineering industries,” he said while inaugurating the construction work of Bangladesh Industrial and Technical Assistance Centre (BTAC) Tool Institute building at Tejgaon in the city, said a press release.
The minister said the government, at the instruction of the Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, is establishing an industrial city at Keraniganj to accumulate the light engineering industries at one place.
