Economic Reporter :
Industries Minister Amir Hossain Amu today directed the deputy commissioners (DCs) to cancel allocation of plots in Bangladesh Small and Cottage Industries Corporation (BSCIC) industrial estates against those who did not set up any industry for long.
He gave the direction while speaking at the fifth session of DC conference at the Cabinet Division in Bangladesh Secretariat.
Briefing newsmen after the session, the industries minister said the real entrepreneurs are being deprived as those who got allotment did not set up factories on the industrial plots.
He directed the DCs to cancel those allotments in such cases and make fresh allotments against new entrepreneurs.
The DCs would have to take quick steps to this effect to attain the expected goal of industrialization, he said. Commerce Minister Tofail Ahmed and secretaries and senior officials concerned were present on the occasion, said an official release.
Amir Hossain Amu said the country did not face any fertilizer crisis in last seven years because of steps taken by the Awami League government, he said, adding that lion’s share of this credit goes to the DCs.
He directed the DCs to ensure proper management of fertilizers across the country in future.
He also advised them to remain alert against the plot to demean Bangladesh through militant activities in the name of religion. The industries minister said the drives of Bangladesh Standard and Testing Institute (BSTI) would be strengthened at the district level to ensure safe food and other commodities for the people.
