Local residents including students are suffering due to the poor condition of Amirabad School Road in Lohagara.
At present, most of the road are impassable. The carpeting has been lifted and many small and big holes have been created. Small ponds have formed in many places. People have to walk through the water and mud. Students and residents of various institutions.
It is known that the Amirabad School Road extends from the upazila Sadar Battali Station on the Chattogram-Cox’s Bazar Highway to the mouth of the Stan Tin Khal on the Border of Lohagara Satkania. People from all walks of life, including students, workers, farmers and traders of the two upazilas, travel through the said road every day. Besides, there are several educational institutions on the road including Amirabad Supiya Aliya Madrasa, South Satkania Golambari Model Government High School, Amirabad Public Welfare Boys and Girls High School, Amirabad Government Primary School, Amirabad Public Welfare Momena Kulsum Government Primary School and Amirabad New Bazar Government Primary School.
Due to non-renovation, the carpeting has turned into big potholes. Currently, the road has become impassable. Every day, many battery-operated rickshaws, auto rickshaws and small trucks with cargo are moving with extreme risk. Accidents are constantly happening .
The vehicles are running in a straight line, avoiding small and big potholes. There is water in one place. In many places with surrounding dust is getting muddy. Pedestrians, especially young students, have to suffer a lot. Battery-operated rickshaw driver Kabir Ahmad said that driving a rickshaw has become difficult due to the poor condition of the road.
Various parts of the rickshaws are constantly being destroyed due to the broken road. Passengers express their displeasure. We demand the speedy repair of the road.
Water accumulates in the potholes of the road after light rain. From a distance, it looks like a small pond in the middle of the road. It is difficult for vehicles to move, even walking on foot has become difficult through this road. But for a long time there is no reformation of the road, which has caused public anger.
Samshul Alam, headteacher of South Sathkania Golambari Model Government High School, said that the Amirabad school road has become completely impassable. However, students are forced to travel through this road. Also, since September 15, there are two centers for SSC and Dakhil candidates on this road.
Ifran Bin Munir, Lohagra Upazila Engineer of LGED said that they have to look into the matter. He is currently working in a workshop in Chattogram City. Lohagara Upazila Parishad Chairman (Acting) M. Ibrahim Kabir said, Amirabad School Road has been listed for renovation. The work will be started soon if allotment is received.
