The prize giving ceremony of the Walton Amateur Rating Chess Championship was held at Bangladesh Chess Federation hall-room in the capital on Thursday.
State Minister for Youth and Sports Biren Sikder distributed prizes among the winners as the chief guest.
Avik Sarker of Bashir Memorial Chess Club received champion trophy with Tk 25,000 as prize money.
Runner-up Jewel Khan of of Agrani Bank Daba Dal and third place finisher Nasir Uddin Mahmood also received their trophies with Tk 17,000 and 12,000 respectively.
The nine round Swiss-league system competition concluded on Tuesday at the same venue. A total of 157 players took part in the eight-day event.
Two joint secretaries of BCF Morsalin Ahmed and Shamim Khan, and ACPB General Secretary IM Abu Sufian Shakil, first additional director of Walton Group FM Iqbal Bin Anwar and Golden Sporting Club president Amir Ali Rana were present in the ceremony.
