The International Mother Language Day was observed here with various programme on Wednesday. The programmes include placing of flora wrath at the local Shaheed Minar hoisting of the National Flag at half mast a top all the government and private buildings.
Probhat ferry (Morning Rally) Commando rating the language movement of 1952 started from the local Shaheed Minar and in paraded the main roads of the Chuadanga town.
Hundreds of bare-footed people of all walks of life including journalist of Chuadanga Press Club, Freedom fighters, DC, government and non-government offices various political parties and cultural organisation paid tributes to he martyrs of 1952 language movement placed floral wreaths at the Shaheed Minnar at Chuadanga Government College..
BSS from Rajshahi says: “Amar Ekushey and International Mother Language Day- 2018” was observed in the city as elsewhere in the country on Wednesday with due respect and in a befitting manner, paying rich tributes to the martyrs of the historic Language Movement of 1952.
Various political parties and socio-cultural and volunteer organisations and educational institutions observed the day with a renewed pledge for building a happy, prosperous and non-communal Bangladesh.
Since early in the morning, thousands of people irrespective of age and sex were seen walking barefooted with bunches of flowers in hand towards the nearby Shaheed Minars especially those at Rajshahi College and Bhuban Mohan Park to pay their deep respect to the languages movement heroes and singing “Amar Bhaiyer Rakte Rangano Ekushey February, Ami ki Bhulite Pari” during the time. Rajshahi City Corporation (RCC) and the district and police administrations also observed the day, taking elaborate programmes.
The programmes include placing wreaths at Shaheed Minar, hoisting national flags at half-mast atop all public and private buildings and mourning procession (probhat ferry), discussion, cultural and literary functions.
The city streets were decorated with miniature national flags and colored flags inscribed with Bengali alphabets.
BSS from Narsingdi reports: The people of Narsingdi on Wednesday observed Amar Ekushey and International Mother Language Day-2018 paying glowing tributes to the Language Movement martyrs and recalling their outstanding contribution to establishment Bangla as the state language.
Countless people from all walks of life on barefoot placed wreaths at Shaheed Minar adjacent to the local stadium since the clock striking 00:01am on Wednesday.Officials of the district administration, local press club and members of various political, social and cultural organizations joined the public in paying tributes to the martyrs of the 1952 Language Movement.
A large mourning procession was brought out from the premises of deputy commissioner’s office in the town. The procession ended at the Shaheed Minar through paying wreaths there.
In the evening, a discussion meeting organized by district the administration was held at local Shilpakala Academy.

Flower garlands were placed at 12:01 am last night at Shaheed Minar of Government Rajendra College premises on behalf of LGRD Minister Khandker Mosharraf Hossain, Deputy Commissioner Ommey Salma Tanzia, Faridpur Zila Parishad chairman Lokman Hossain Mridah, Superintendent of Police Jamal Pasha, District Awami League president Subol Chandra Saha, Sadar upazila chairman Khandker Motesham Hossain Babor, Faridpur Pourashava mayor Mahatab Ali Methu, Govt Rajendra college principal Mosharraf Ali, Faridpur Medical College principal Khabirul Islam and Faridpur press club president Imtiaz Hasan Rubel, among others.
Since early in the morning, thousands of people, including different political parties, socio-cultural bodies, and students, teachers and employees of different school and college, thronged to Shaheed Minar at Govt Rajendra College walking barefooted with bunches flowers in their hands.
