Amal Fair opens

A two-day Amal Fair, marking the 15th anniversary of death of Tebhaga movement leader Amal Sen, was opened at the ground of Bankri Government Primary School under Bagharpara upazila in Jessore on Wednesday.
Rashed Khan Menon, president, Workers Party of Bangladesh and also minister for social welfare, was the chief guest on the opening day.
Amal Sen, founder president of Workers Party of Bangladesh was born at the residence of his maternal uncle at Auria in Narail on July 19, 1914 and died at Dhaka Community Hospital on 17th January, 2003.
Elaborated programmes were chalked out to mark the death anniversary of the late leader. The programmes include placing of floral wreath at the grave, discussions, art competition for children, cultural sessions and a two -day fair.
Chaired by Iqbal Kabir Jahid, poli bureau member, WP, the discussion was attended among others by politbureau member Bimal Biswas, Dilip Barua, Rabiul Alam, Jillur Rahman Bhitu and leaders of left leaning parties.
The chief guest, in his speech, urged the left leaning party men to be united to for any further left movement.
The left leaning leaders in the discussion told that leader like Amal Sen is quite absent in the country because the late leader infused his total life for the welfare of the famers as well as the countrymen.
