Alternative energy sources to face crisis planned: Tawfiq

Prime Minister’s Adviser for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Dr Tawfiq-e-Elahi Chowdhury BB on Thursday said, the government has been in search of alternative energy sources to overcome deficiency.
Dr Tawfiq-e-Elahi made the comment when he was addressing as a chief guest at a seminar titled “Energy Access Energy Poverty: Implication for Policy Work” held at Bidyut Bhaban. The country will reach cent percent power connection target by 2019 though it was fixed 2021. It means that skillness for implementing project of government official has increased, he said.
 “We are now hunting innovative ideas and more skilled hands to discover smart project for giving priority of environment-friendly and economic-based project”, Dr. Tawfiq-e-Elahi said.
Additional Secretary of Power Division Dr. Ahmad Kaikaus chaired the function. Dr Shahidur Rahman Khandker and Siddique Zobair presented separate key note papers on topic and “Multi-tire approach for measuring energy access: progress towards sustainable development goal”.
Sustainable and Renewable Energy Development Authority (SREDA) and Bangladesh Energy and Power Research Council (BEPR) jointly organized the programme.
High officials and head of different Power Division entities were present in the discussion.
