Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader said the cleanliness programme of Awami League will be continued as long as the country’s people are not safe from dengue and free from Aedes mosquito.
“This period is very sensitive . . . so the initiative will be continued to make the people aware of the importance of cleanliness as long as the citizens are not safe from dengue,” he said this on Saturday while inaugurating the AL’s awareness campaign to control dengue outbreak in city’s Farmgate area.
Quader, also the Minister for Road Transport Bridges, said a vested quarter is spreading panic so that the people do not go home during the Eid vacation. “I urge the countrymen to celebrate Eid with caution,” he added.
The minister said, “Our programmes and fight will be continued until making Bangladesh free from dengue. This is our promise .”
He alleged that BNP is doing politics over the ongoing dengue outbreak across the country when AL is working relentlessly to control it. “BNP needs to declare the party’s emergency to come out of their own crisis as over the last 10 years BNP could not launch any movement,” the AL leader added.
He said the countrymen want to see them work rather than just talking against the government.
Quader said the government will create a monitoring cell comprising doctors as per the directives of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. “The cell will work for identifying dengue patients across the country and ensuring the proper treatment of the dengue affected people, the minister said.
Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan said the authorities concerned are working to make the country free of dengue. He also urged the countrymen to be more cautious to get free from dengue.
AL Joint General Secretaries Jahangir Kabir Nanok and Abdur Rahman, Organising Secretaries Ahmad Hossain and BM Mozammel, Cultural Affairs Secretary Ashim Kumar Ukil, Health and Population Affairs Secretary Dr Rokeya Sultana, AL’s Dhaka North President AKM Rahmatullah and AL’s Dhaka North General Secretary Sadek Khan, among others, were present at the programme.
