The High Court (HC) on Monday asked the authorities concerned not to prevent BNP leader Ilias Ali’s wife Tahsina Rushdir Luna from going to the UK for attending the graduation ceremony of her son.
An HC bench comprising Justice Tariq ul Hakim and Justice Md Faruque came up with the order after hearing a writ petition file by Luna challenging the legality of obstructing her from going to the UK.
The court also issued a rule upon the government to explain as to why the obstruction should not be declared as illegal and unlawful.
Advocate Joynul Abedin and Advocate Sagir Hossain Leon stood for Luna during the hearing.
Leon said the immigration police of Hazrat Shah Jalal International Airport did not allow his client to go to the UK with her two children on Sunday morning.
Luna said she was barred by the immigration officers from going to the UK for joining her son’s graduation ceremony.
She said she was supposed to attend her eldest son Abrar Ilias graduation ceremony at the University of West England, Bristol next week as his guardian.
Ilias Ali, BNP’s the then organising secretary, went missing along with his driver, Ansar Ali, on the midnight of April 17, 2012.
Since then, BNP has been blaming the security agencies for his mysterious disappearance, an allegation denied by the government.
