The watchdog of the city development , Chittagong Development Authority (CDA) has embarked upon a Taka 30 billion mega housing project to face the mounting accommodation crisis in the city.
To cater the need for housing, the CDA is going to implement the biggest-ever housing project, Ananya Residential Area Project Phase-2, through targeting to allocate around 3000 plots on 415 acres of land in city’s Kulgaon area.
The Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (ECNEC) approved theproject on January 31 last while CDA formally received the ECNEC approval letter on February 15.
CDA, for the first time, is to take a total of Tk 2000 crore loan from a private bank while rest cost will be provided from CDA’s own fund for executing extra large or mega Project.
CDA, a watchdog for planned city development, is expected to publish circular inviting applications from next month to allot the plots in the project located near Oxygen-Quaish Road under Panchlaish, Batowa and Quaish areas, CDA sources said.
A board meeting of the CDA recently discussed the project and preliminarily fixed the price of the plots at Tk 15 lakh per katha and the deposit money at Tk 10 lakh against each application.CDA chairman Abdus Salam said the land acquisition process will start soon and it will take two or three months for completion of allotment procedures of commercial and residential plots.
Around 3000 plots of more or less three to four kathas are being prepared on 415 acres of land beside Oxygen-Kuaish Road .
Out of the total plots, 900 will be kept reserved for the expatriates while 110 plots will be allocated among different business enterprises, sources said. With the existing 1,725 plots already allotted in the Ananya Project First Phase, the number of total plots at Ananya will stand at 4,725, CDA sources said. CDA Chairman Abdus Salam said the Ananya Phase-2 residential project has got the go-ahead as it has been approved in the ECNEC meeting.”This will be most compact and planned township with all amenities within the land of commercial capital and second largest city”, CDA chairman asserted.
