An alleged mobile phone snatcher beaten to death at Sher-E-Bangla Medical College hospital (SBMCH) campus on Saturday morning.
The deceased were identified as Md. Nasiruddin, 30,son of Md. Ansaruddin of Padrishibpur village under Bakerganj Upazila of the district.
Sub Inspector Swapan of Barisal Kotwali Police Station, said hearing the incident he rushed to spot and recovering the critically injured victim admitted him in the emergency ward of Sher-e-Bangla Medical College Hospital.
However Dr.Das Ranbir, emergency medical officer on duty, declared him as dead. The victim was allegedly trying to snatch a mobile phone from patient and the mob nabbing him beaten to death, the SI added. The dead body sent to morgue for autopsy, he added. After receiving postmortem report and examining the CC camera footage we will take legal action, said Asaduzzaman, assistant commissioner of Barisal Metropolitan Police.
