Case filed against BTF GS: Alleged sexual-assault of teen tennis player

A Bangladeshi-origin American Tennis player claimed that she was sexually assaulted by General Secretary of Bangladesh Tennis Federation (BTF) Golam Morshed. A case was filed by victim’s uncle Hira Lal, a veteran tennis player. The case was filed under the Prevention of Women and Children Repression Act 2000 at Gulshan Police Station in the city on Thursday.
After the case filed Morshed was sacked from his post on the same day.
According to the victim’s statement, the tennis player visited Bangladesh from USA earlier this month to take part in two international junior tennis tournament, which was held in the two separate venues in Bangladesh.
She was accommodated in Dhaka Club during the tournaments.
On November 4, Morshed offered her to take dinner with him while he and she were riding in a car. At that time Morshed sexually abused her and also used vulgar sentences.
Then the girl felt unsecured and then she left Dhaka for USA without participating two tennis meet.
Inspector of Gulshan Police Station SM Karim informed the newsmen that the investigation has been going on after the case was filed and they will take proper action.
