Court Correspondent :The Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) Court of Dhaka on Sunday sent Mohammad Kamal, who was placed on two-day remand to the jail on completion of the remand.The same court placed accused Kamal on remand on January 28 to quiz him in connection with sexual harassment of several women during the Pahela Baishakh celebrations on Dhaka University campus last year. He was produced to the court on Sunday, after the two-day remand was completed, the court passed the order to send him to the jail. Kamal refused to make any confessional statement to the court admitting his involvement with the assault of women.SI of Detective Branch (DB) of Police and also the Investigation Officer of the case, Dipok Kumar Das told the newsmen that although Kamal was allegedly present on the spot he denied his involvement with the assault. Besides, Kamal claimed that he could not identify the seven photographs, published on the occasion. Poloice arrested Kamal, 35, from in front of his residence at Khaje Dewan 1st Lane on January 27 evening and during preliminary interrogations, he allegedly confessed his involvement with the incident, DMP Commissioner, Maruf Hossain Sardar told the newsmen the following day. On April 17, last year, a group of youths assaulted and sexually harassed some women at Suhrawardy Udyan gate near Dhaka University’s TSC during the Pahela Baishak celebrations on April 14. A case was filed in this connection with Shahbagh Police Station against an unspecified number of unnamed people.
