Staff Reporter :
Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal on Thursday said that the allegations against Police Superintendent Mohammad Harun Or Rashid, who was withdrawn from Narayanganj on Sunday, would be probed.
The Minister said this in response to a question from journalists after Cabinet meeting on law and order at the Home Ministry.
SP Harun was withdrawn from Narayanganj and transferred to Police Headquarters as Police Superintendent (TR) on Sunday.
Earlier, Harun held a press conference about detaining Amber Group Chairman Shawkat Aziz’s wife and his son from Siddhirganj early Friday.
At the conference, he claimed that Yaba, wine and arms have been recovered from the car of the detainees.
But allegation was raised that SP Harun caught Shawkat Aziz’s wife and son from their Gulshan residence and took them to Narayanganj after they denied to give him extortion.
About allegations of extortion and picking up against SP Harun, Kamal said, “Whether he (SP Harun) picked up the businessman’s wife-son or not, it is matter of investigation. It can be said after probe.”
Questioned him whether investigation began, the Minister said, “This will certainly start. We have just withdrawn him (SP Harun).”
