Chittagong mayor AJM Nasir Uddin on Sunday said that all must love and respect their motherland the way they show love to their mothers.
The mayor said mother is the name of a shelter that defends her children with affection, fondness and love throughout her life.
“In the same manner we all should show love and respect to our beloved motherland Bangladesh like our mothers”, the mayor added.
Chittagong mayor came up with the comments while handing over ‘Ratnagarbha Ma (a mother giving birth to excellent children) Award’ at his residence this morning.
‘Bangabandhu and National Four Leaders Memorial Council’ arranged the function marking the International Mother’s Day on Sunday.
Executive President of the Council Mohammad Jahir presided over the function while ward councilor and vice-president of the Council Hasan Murad Biplob, its founding general secretary Abdur Rahim, senior vice-president Hasina Jafar and Chittagong city Awami League leader Belal Ahmed, among others, addressed it.
Later, the mayor handed over ‘Ratnagarbha Ma Award’ to Fatema Juhora Begum for her outstanding contributions to society.
