Dhaka Premier Division Cricket League: All-round Shuvagata stars for Prime Bank

An all-round performance by Shuvagata Hom saw Prime Bank Cricket Club to record their fourth win in the Walton Dhaka Premier Division Cricket League with a four wickets victory over Mohammedan Sporting Club Limited in their fifth round match held on Tuesday at the Khan Shaheb Osman Ali Stadium in Fatullah.
Chasing Mohammedan’s small total of 185 runs, Prime Bank reached home in 43.3 overs for the loss of six wickets.
Middle order batsman Shuvogata Hom, led from the front, with a match-winning knock of 47 runs off 50-ball with the help of five boundaries and one over boundary efore he was caught behind by wicket keeper Mithun off Sajedul Islam delivery, after Prie Bak lost their two batsmen – opener Soumya Sarkar (20) and first down Dilshan Munaweera (10), early in the 50 runs of the scoreboard.
Another Opener Saikat Ali (46) and second down Sadman Hossain (32) were looked positive on the crease, but both failed to convert those into a big knock in the face of discipline bowling attacks by the Mohammedan bowlers.
Rahatul Ferdous was the most successful bowler for Mohammedan picking up three wickets for 33 runs.
Earlier, Mohammedans, rode on all rounder Naeem Islam’s unbeaten half century, managed to score a paltry total of 185 for 8 from their allotted 50 overs, after they opted to bat first.
Mohammedan skipper Naeem Islam played a responsible knock of 56-run off 90-ball hitting five boundaries captaincy, but he was unlucky as he got a little support from other end to build a big total.
Opener Ezaz Ahmed (30), wicket keeper Mithun (23) and Alauddin Babu (21) were the notable batsmen for Mohammedan.
Shuvagata Hom was the pick of Prime Bank bowler taking three wickets for 39 runs. He was well supported by Dilshan Munaweera, who bagged two wickets giving away 35 runs.
Shuvagata Hom of Prime Bank was named the player of the mach for his all round performance on the day.
With the day’s win Prime Bank improved their tally with eight points from five matches while Mohammedan remained at their previous credit of four points playing the same number of outings.
