Resident Ambassador of Algeria to Bangladesh Rabah Larbi presented his credentials to President M Abdul Hamid at Bangabhaban here on Monday afternoon.
Welcoming the envoy to Bangladesh, the President expressed satisfaction over the existing excellent bilateral relation between the two brotherly countries, President’s Press Secretary Joynal Abedin told BSS after the ceremony.
During the meeting, the President recalled the Algeria’s contribution to Bangladesh soon after her independence and the historic visit of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman to Algiers in September 1973.
The President thanked the government of Algeria for reopening its embassy in Dhaka, saying that through this the existing bilateral ties between the two countries would now reach to a new height in days to come.
Bangladesh reopened its Embassy in Algeria on October 2016 and Algeria had also reopened their mission in Bangladesh in 2019.
The President hoped that during his assignment in Dhaka, the existing bilateral relations in the fields of trade and investment between the two countries would be expanded more in days to come.
The new envoy sought all-out cooperation in discharging his duties in Bangladesh and the President assured him of providing all necessary support to him.
Earlier, on his arrival at Bangabhaban, a smartly turned-out contingent of the horse-mounted President Guard Regiment (PGR) gave the envoy a guard of honour as part of the ceremony.
