UNB, Dhaka :
English cricketer Alex Hales has been ruled out of the ongoing edition of Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) due to a shoulder injury, he sustained during the game against Rajshahi Kings in Chattogram.
Hales was playing for defending champions Rangpur Riders. He scored 304 runs in eight matches at an average of 43.42 with a century and two fifties.
Tom Moody, the coach of the Riders, confirmed the news of Hales’ injury on Thursday.
“We got the news last night that he is required to go back to London to get some specialist opinion on his left shoulder. He hurt his left shoulder last game while batting, it was not while fielding,” Moody said.
“Unfortunately that is the end of his tournament with us. He had a significant impact and a great value to us, but we have got the resources within our squad to make the necessary adjustment at the top of the order,” the Riders coach told reporters.
The Middlesex-born cricketer played a pivotal role for the Riders to qualify into the playoffs of the tournament. The Riders have played 11 matches and won seven of them to secure a place in the top four.
