Alamgir turns 72 today

Legendary film actor Alamgir will complete 71 today. Last year on this day he wanted to celebrate his birthday but
couldn’t due to coronavirus pandemic. Yesterday he went to BFDC to cast his vote. He is now more serious and careful because the corona situation is deteriorating day by day. This year he has no plan. As usual he will go to office today.
He said, “I have nothing to say about my birthday. Everybody pray for
me as I can remain well.”
Alamgir was born on April 3 at Dhaka Medical College and Hospital in 1950. He passed his childhood days in Dhaka’s Tejgaon area. Recipient of National Film Awards for many times and also got the Lifetime Achievement Award in 2019, Alamgir lastly made a movie Ekti Cinemar Golpo in 2018. Overall, he is a person
of film, also a good human being.
Though Alamgir started acting while studying in college but on June 24 in 1972, he first stood in front of the camera for
acting in late Alamgir Kumkum’s movie Aamar Jonmobhumi. Before releasing this movie in 1973, Alamgir started shooting of Sirajul Islam’s movie Dossurani, Azizur Rahman’s Otithi, Alamgir Kumkum’s Momota and Mohor Chand’s movie Hira. Till now he acted in 225 movies. Jhumka was his first produced movie.
Once Alamgir learned music from Syed Abdul Hadi in the capital’s Green Road area’s a music school for three months.
He first lent his voice for play-back song in Mostafa Mehmud’s movie Monihar under Satya Saha’s composition. He first got the National Film Award for acting
in Kamal Ahmed’s Maa O Chhele.
