The name of instrumental artiste Alamgir Hossain is popular to all the singers. He has been playing drums successfully for last two decades. He has come into present position only for playing drums. He played drums with Runa Laila, Sabina Yasmin, Subir Nandi, Ayub Bachchu to present generation’s singers.
Alamgir Hossain was born in his maternal grandfather’s house in Joypurhat. His father’s residence is in Pabna. He has been living in Dhaka since 1985 due to his father’s job. In 1997, he played table on BTV. In 1998, he along with his three other friends formed a band group named Dhumketu. Since 2000 he and his friends started to play instruments with Ankhi Alamgir, Robi Chowdhury, among others. Besides playing table, Alamgir started to play drums from 2000. Till now he has been playing drums. Most of the time he played drums with Samina Chowdhury.
While talking about his career as drummer Alamgir said, “As an instrumental artiste, I got many things including people’s love. In childhood, I had dreamt to play instruments. Everybody pray for me.”
It is noted that promising singer Zinia Zafrin Luipa is Alamgir’s wife.
