AL won’t get 30 seats if fair polls held: Fakhrul

BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir on Friday said ruling Awami League will not get more than 30 seats if the polls are held in free and fair manner.
“AL General Secretary Obaidul Quader is always giving undesirable speeches. I do not want to answer him. I requested him not to deliver undesirable speeches. Conduct the ensuing polls in free, fair and acceptable manner and wait for how many seats you can win,” Fakhrul said in a press briefing in the party Chairperson’s Gulshan office.
The BNP leader said, “If the polls are held in free and fair manner, the AL will not get more than 30 seats.”
Mirza Fakhrul said, the Election Commission has not created a level playing field yet.
The restoration of democracy depends on conducting the ensuing polls in free and fair manner.
He said, police are conducting arrest drive everyday against the BNP men across the country.
“Even Prime Minister assured us that no more arrest would be done. Contrarily arrest continues,” he said.
He asked the government to stop arrest campaign and help create a level playing field to hold inclusive polls.
BNP Standing Committee Members, Dr. Khondoker Mosharraf Hossain, Barrister Moudud Ahmed, Mirza Abbas, Dr. Abdul Moin Khan, Nazrul Islam Khan and Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury were present.
