AL to pay tribute to Bangabandhu at Tungipara tomorrow

The newly-elected Bangladesh Awami League Central Working Committee (ALCWC) and Advisory Council led by AL President and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina would pay tributes to Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman by placing wreaths at his mazar at Tungipara in Gopalganj tomorrow.
The members of the ALCWC and Advisory Council will also offer fateha and join a doa mahfil seeking eternal peace of the departed soul of the Father of the Nation, an AL press release said here on Sunday.
Besides, the release said, the maiden meeting of the new ALCWC and Advisory Council will be held at Tungipara, the ancestral home of Bangabandhu, at 2 pm the same day.
AL President Sheikh Hasina will chair the meeting.
AL General Secretary Obaidul Quader has requested all members of the ALCWC and Advisory Council to attend the programmes.
The newly-elected leaders of Bangladesh Awami League were scheduled to go to Tungipara on Sunday to pay homage to Bangabandhu, but the programme was postponed due to inclement weather.
Sheikh Hasina was reelected President of Awami League unanimously in the 20th national council of the party on October 22, 23 while Obaidul Quader elected its General Secretary.
This is for the eighth time Sheikh Hasina, the elder daughter of Bangabandhu, has been elected the President of Awami League, one of the oldest political parties of the subcontinent.
