BSS, Dhaka :
Awami League (AL) must come to power with a popular mandate during the next general elections in the greater national interests, otherwise Bangladesh may fall into a grave situation if the anti-liberation forces grab the governance again.
Eminent educationist and chairperson of “Gorbo Bangladesh” Dr Shaheda said this while addressing as the chief guest a seminar marking the 48th death anniversary of Tafazzal Hossain Manik Mia at Dhaka Reporters Unity (DRU) seminar hall here on Friday.
She said BNP is a political party depending on Jamaat-e-Islami and, therefore, a massacre may take place in the country if the anti liberation forces grab the power again. “Hence, Awami League must come to power to save the country and the countrymen,” she said.
Jatiya Gonotantrik League organized the seminar with the party chief M A Jalil in the chair. Additional Secretary General of Jatiya Party (JP) Sadek Siddique, Deshio Sanskritik Parishad president Advocate Gourango Chandra Kar, BFUJ’s former Treasurer Ataur Rahman and president of Manobadhikar Andolan Khwaja Mohibullah Shantipuri also addressed the seminar.
Dr Shaheda referred to the good relations between Bangabandhu and Manik Mia and said their mutual link with a common goal in mind played a vital role in achieving the long-cherished Independence of Bangladesh.
She urged all to follow the ideals of a famous journalist like Manik Mia to help Bangladesh stand on a balanced footing with democracy and development all over the country.
She said as many as 50 educationists should be elected in the next general elections to play their due roles in parliament for further progress and prosperity of the country and its people.
June 1 was the 48th death anniversary of legendary journalist and the Founding Editor of the daily Ittefaq Tafazzal Hossain Manik Mia.
