Awami League MP Pinu Khan’s son arrested over double murders, hunt on for three others Investigation officer Sub-Inspector Deepak Kumar claimed Rony had admitted to “firing from his licensed gun”.
“He was under the influence of drug,” Kumar said.
“He fired shots after getting stuck in a slight jam but was not sure if anyone had

The shooting took place two months ago but Rony, son of MP Pinu Khan, was arrested on May 31. A day later, the vehicle’s driver Imran Fakir issued a confessional statement in court but Rony had kept mum.

Police say auto-rickshaw driver Yakub Ali and rickshaw-puller Abdul Hakim were shot dead in a random firing from a black Land Cruiser Prado around 1:45am on Apr 14.
Hakim’s mother Monowara Begum filed a case with Ramna police against unidentified people the following day. Rony and his driver were arrested a week after detectives were tasked with the investigation. Kumar said three others were in the car during the shooting and police had launched a manhunt for the suspects. He, however, declined to disclose the suspects’ identities “for the sake of investigation”. Victim Yakub Ali’s wife Salma Begum said none from Rony’s family had contacted her.
“We’ve lost everything footing the treatment bill of my husband,” she said. “Nobody helped us.” She went to the detective police’s Minto Road office on Wednesday evening to catch a glimpse of the alleged killer.
